Climate Change

Every Halloween my family carves jack-o-lanterns. It's one of my favorite traditions and a great way to spend time together with family and decorate for the holiday. After Halloween our pumpkins start to rot pretty fast in the San Diego heat. I put them in my flower beds to break down along with fallen leaves to provide organic matter for the organisms in the soil. Since Halloween is one of my favorite holidays it's also a way to honor our jack-o-lanterns as they go back to the Earth. It's fun to watch them get smaller day after day until all that's left are the stems. Happy Halloween everyone!!
