Plastics Impact on the Environment

Public·57 students

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to reduce my use of plastic by keeping a travel sized utensil case, bowl, mug, and water cup in my desk at work. These have helped me greatly reduce my use of single use plastics everyday. I bought the utensil pack solely for the purpose of never being able to find any utensils at work during my lunch time.I loved that it came with a spoon, knife, fork, chopsticks, and two different sized straws. This pack has saved me from using a straw and a fork, knife and/or spoon every weekday for the past year. But, now I realized just how much plastic I used to use! So, I expanded the collection of reusable items to include my coffee cup, and bowl. Mainly the case of the utensils are what is making a huge impact. Everyday I feel better about not grabbing for a plastic fork or spoon. I typically bring my lunches in glass containers so there is easy transport to and from work. I'm still trying to find better ways on how to buy food without so much packaging. Although, I have been visiting more farmer's markets, so this has helped with cutting on packaging. Only downside is that I definitely need to learn more ways to make more plant based foods. I suppose that will always be a work in progress.

That’s a great idea. I love using straws so I have reusable ones.
