Living Plastic Free

The issue with single-use packaging (SUPPs) is actually in the title, they are only designed for one-time use! Not only is the process of creating the packaging use a lot of energy and resources, but the elimination of these packages also releases carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. What is not burned down, ends up in our landfills and in our oceans. It is estimated that there are currently between 75-199 million tons of plastic waste in the ocean. Not to mention the US creates 76 million pounds of plastic each day!

The Grove Collaborative is a company that is trying to do something about the fact that according to the EPA only 9% of plastics are actually recycled, no matter which bin waste is being placed into. Their goal is to be 100% plastic free by 2025. They sell cleaning products that do not require bulky plastic containers. They emphasize the use of sustainable materials to deliver cleaning products. One of the products I have decided to use to reduce my carbon footprint is their Grove room spray and surface/floor cleaner. Grove Co.offers reusable glass bottles for a small price but I just purchased their glass concentrates and reused plastic bottles I already had so I was not adding to the landfill. I feel this is wave of the future in terms of how products will be delivered and should be delivered.
