On my trip to Taiwan, I ended up buying a Bugcat (franchise) re-usable bag to use. This helped reduce my impact, as I was no longer using the single use throwaway plastic bags like I had been before. Removing that constant from my life is my step in helping the environment through reducing plastic waste, as the single use bags are often discarded afterwards and lead to litter in natural environments, which takes a long time to break down. Not only that, it also helps reduce things such as reducing resource usage, and effectively pollution as well. The production of these single use plastic bags takes specific fossil fuels such as natural gases and oil, whereas my new bag is made from cloth and has a lower impact on the environment. In a similar fashion, the creation and disposal of these plastic bags causes a lot of pollution in the air from the usage of these fuels. By using the reusable bag, I'm also helping reduce pollution in the air. Additionally, the usage of reusable bags calls towards the pathos of the general community. The more usage that these better alternatives get, the more of a signal it sends to companies that people care about the environment and for there to be a better way to treat the Earth.
